So i am about half way through Nightfall.
I am actually taking my time playing through this chapter, savouring every environment, every feature and completing every single quest i can get my hands on apart from the main storyline...

To this day i have yet to find a max dmg weapon of ANY sort except a spear. I have found a multitude of blue items, a few purple, and VERY few golds. White items abound. But still, i have YET to find ANY other max dmg weapon other then that one spear, and that spear was a green!

This trend concerns me, along with the LESS than generous drop rate. Put it this way, ANY single mission in Tyria or Cantha my character would completely fill their inventory EVEN with an all henchy team. In Elona, i haven't even filled just the backpack portion of my inventory. In fact, the last mission i did i got a grand total of 4 drops (apart from gold of course)...

Is this a JOKE? Ya sure lots has changed, like "properly" randomized chests, and... stuff. But the drop RATE has dropped INCREDIBLY low. I know there is probly a few other item posts, but i am posting in regards to several friends too. We have found that as we all play solo, we experience the same situation, hardly (if at all) any max dmg weapons, and an incredibly low rate of drops.

And before you say i'm not far enough in the game... I have been killing lvl 24+ monsters for long while now.

The reason this erks me is if i cannot even get a max dmg WHITE weapon, then there is something terribly wrong. My dervish is still walking around with my crafter weapon, which many new players may not be able to afford (5k and something like 45 iron + wood). I desperatly want a new scythe skin for some variety... ugh.

Anywhoo, this long rantish post has a point, i'd like people input on whether or not i have REALLY bad luck, or if this is a widespread issue... Please leave your input here... its all welcome.

EDIT:: Just in case it was missed, this is in terms of the Nightfall campaign drops only! And....continue!

EDIT 2x:: I have since beaten the game 2x. Even in the Realm of Torment, out of a full inventory of drops in from a mission, i have gotten a grand total of 2 max stat items. As in a max dmg blue scythe and a max dmg white hammer. The gold drop, was non max. ALL the other white drops, non max. .... And this pretty much sums up my experience in all of NF, even through endgame area. Quite sad.

So, are you talking about just drops, or drops and chests combined? Cause if it's the latter, then I think you have seriously bad luck. I haven't got much in the way of max anything from drops alone (though there are a few), but I have got quite a few nice max damage items from chests, and before you ask, no, I'm not chest farming. I'm playing through same as you, too - doing every quest I can get, etc. Just reached end of Vabbi.

I'm playing a Paragon, and my wife has a Dervish. Together, we have found a real nice gold max spear, and a nice gold max Scythe, modded to perfection. I've got only a purple shield, but it's max, rare-skinned, all that (love the inscriptions with a passion). We've also found a good assortment of other items, like nice off-hands, daggers, a sweet gladius, a couple of axes, etc. - all max.

Again, most of this was from chests, though. We always keep around 5 keys on us when we go questing, so that might be your problem. I know they're expensive in the long run, especially if you keep all the drops, not bothering with the idiotic trade system in place, like us. It tends to be no more expensive than straight up crafting our weapon of choice, though. So it might just pay for itself.

Yes, I have found the same problem. I can't even find a lot of max armor shields. And the only max gold anything I have found so far was the Elemental Sword with my monk. I also find way too many daggers in the game, which is really annoying since you can't even make assassins in Nightfall.

I too have noticed that there just isn't as many drops and I have yet to fill up my invetory (unless I've done a few quests/missions in a row cause I forgot to empty it.) I kind of miss the days of deciding which items to keep for when the mission is over and which to leave behind only to fade away.

Hopefully it's just bad luck that will change soon.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm getting 10x more golds in Nightfall than I am in Prophecies. Not specifically max good golds, but golds nonetheless.

Me and two other friends that often quest together with one healer hero average 3-5 gold a run in a mission, and 1-2 golds in explorable areas while doing quests. Plethora of purples blues and whites to boot.

Also found 6 white dyes, and I wasn't even farming them.

Bleh, i know exactly what you mean, only max things i've had have come from chests, and only one of those were gold, everything else i've had drop for me (golds and alike) were either one point off, or low end... actually now that i think about it i've had one max wand, wow, who cares, wand, didn't have any mods either! oh well, Anet will save the day eventually ^.^

Like the guy in the mission that gets the only 4 gold drops while no one else even got a purple. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground with luck in this game. It's like once someone gets something good, they keep getting good stuff over... and over... and over. Best thing I've ever found was a +5 Gothic Sword. I'm lucky to find anything with a req under 11, let alone something with good stats. Good thing it's just a game... or I might... start to...

I've gotten a few Kournan Keys so far, and some Istani keys, but that's it.

And yes, i am only referring to drops and not chest items. Concerning chests, i have only gotten useless caster offhands so far. Dropwise, its getting a bit discouraging. I just hope that soon it picks up before i get to endgame.

Akisai, you are one lucky sob (meant as a compliment...hehe).

Oh, and Kha is one of those friends i was talking about. Kha you found me! AHHHH... No but seriously, i am glad at least a few others are experiencing the same thing. I am hoping the low replay rate is in reflection of the odd time this was posted, i wanna see more responses to get a better feel for overall concencus.

drops have always suckked for me, my hubby usually gets all the good stuff. But we have noticed that the drop rates have gone down as the chapter number increases (factions drop rate was bad, reallly bad sometimes----did some missions where I got 2 soul stones, and that was it for the whole mission and no henchies either).
On the other hand we have done the starter island together and have had to decide which crap to leave behind, with or without heros/henchies. We get lots of gold, but thats ok. Still think the drop rate for cantha was worse.
Gold items, didnt realize there were any in elona. Thought only purple was in that country. But really dont care about those since most of my characters are tyrian or canthan and have max weapons, my paragon has the ce weapon which is ok--not max but neither is my character yet. And got goty so gave those weapons to the other heros.......and the green weekend helped me flesh out some more weapons too. So I have not really been in the market for good weapons, but havent seen anything worth keeping yet either.
keys--have tons of istani keys, have yet to see any other kind.

i have good drops, today got 4 gold drops, one of them was a major vigor with a survivor insignia, lady luck shined for me today with that drop, as i pulled the two of them, some days before that, i got a white max damage hammer for koss, so no lack of drop issue for me

I got more random gold drops in the first half of Nightfall than I did in Prophecies and Factions together.

yep, my loot rate has been far from impressive since i've started nightfall. i am at start of the realm of torment and i've gotten less then a handful of golds [chests and drops] and have not rushed the game at all [i took my canthan monk across and have been progressing since release].

i hope my luck increases because it's starting to become discouraging.

I have had great drops 4 greens; a Bow, Hammer, Spear, and a scythe. I had to farm the spear but it took about an hour with three heros. The rest I was in a 8 man grp in the area for the first time. All of which are with my prefered mods. 10 golds but only 1 perfect shield and a near perfect Bow the rest were sold to merch or salvaged for mods. My wife however has no greens and a few more golds than I did but 3 were perfect i think with nice skins. She plays more than I do lol but I have better luck. As far as dyes go she has a horseshoe up her #^$. She gets tons of them, even black.

Drop rate is bad as usual. STILL havent even found a WHITE max dmg scythe.. LMAO!! Nightfall's drop system is screweeeed up.

It's not uncommon to see players say they're not getting enough drops. I mean, can there ever be "enough" drops?

Seriously, though, if there are issues, we'd like to know about them and fix them, and to do that we have to replicate the issue, which requires information. This issue could be truth, it could be perception, it could be that things are functioning as planned. Those reporting the issue would help a lot of they provide any facts and figures they might have on hand, or if they would list:

the profession(s) you are playing that specifically seem shorted on drops. Provide birthplace, e.g., Elonian Ranger; Canthan Warrior.
the area(s) in which you are playing
the Heroes or Henchies you are using

best thing i've found is a perfect Scythe HP mod... that's it, a few max weapons, but nothing good/great.. I agree the drop rate is lacking. Maybe they're trying to keep a balance on the economy *shrug*

I think that Elonian monsters tend to drop gold, rather than items, much of the time. It's probably not so much a limit on drop numbers as it is an increase in gold drops. For example in Arborstone explorable area it's easy to fill your inventory, while in an Elonian area, you'll get 2-3k platinum (solo farming) and half of your inventories worth of drops. I prefer to be able to aquire gold, as well as just sellage.

I do know what you mean about the low drops, I haven't had one single max spear drop for me, and the one max scythe I saw I got from a chest (purple, req 12)

Still I think that there isn't a problem, so much as the monsters in Elona seem to drop gold a lot more than items. This has been my experience at least.

QFT. What is it with all the daggers? I'm trying to get wands for my caster heroes and all I'm getting is daggers. Those and purple hammers. What is it with purple hammers?
